I just watched The Tango Lesson by Sally Potter with Win. It’s a semi-autobiographical film about Potter and her lessons in Argentine Tango. It’s a bit weary in the drama bits, but it’s beautifully shot in black and white and the dance scenes are comprehensive in style. I adored it, overall.
Anyway, it spawned the desire to try out tango again, so I dusted off my shoes, put on a playlist and we tried to see how much we could remember. Rusty, but not too bad! Pole has definitely contributed to the sensual side of the dance that I was never able to achieve before.
Still missing it. Would be nice to revisit it more often, now that we have wood floors and space!
I’ve been spending so much energy and time and thought into dance lately that I haven’t picked up a pencil in months. I feel absolutely and completely lost when it comes to drawing and painting and I’m desperately hoping for a story to tell in the near future.
Sometimes you have to force yourself when the inspiration doesn’t come — a valuable piece of advice one of my professors gave.
